Grandpa

SO I am about to lose another Grandparent, my Grandpa Starkweather. He is almost 86 years old and has been suffering with "dementia" for the last 2 years and just in the last couple days he has stopped eating, and drinking, and has lost control of his bowels, and has been sleeping for more than 3/4th's of the day. This has been hard on my grandma who is 86, and has to clean him up and try to help him eat and drink. I love him and will miss him, but I know he is ready to see his Maker. And what a moment that will be, I am excited for him.
Joy in the Journey... and what a journey this has been

This brought tears to my eyes as I remembered so vividly this stage of my own grandfather's disease. There were many times when the doctors told us it was almost the end, and yet, he would pull through time and again. Then one night, God graciously took his hand and peacefully led him home. There was nothing to tell us this was coming - only a phone call to let us know it was done. Cherish even these moments with your grandfather if he's near. My prayers will be with your grandma as she faces these tough days taking care of him and with your whole family as you let your grandpa go to receive his complete healing in Heaven! :)

I'm definitely still interested in the group. Let me know as soon as you hear anything :).
